Maramures and Crisana are two small and not so popular wine regions situated in the north-west part of Romania, the winemaking here was influenced by the west European style. The Austro-Hungarian emperors preferred wines from Crisana and Maramures. The most notable wines are made from the red Fetească Neagră and the white Fetească Regală as well from the Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. There are two DOC areas in the region including Minis and Crisana.
